Viran Chamuditha Sets U19 World Cup Record With 192 Runs

Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha created history at the U19 World Cup 2026 during the match against Japan on Saturday, January 17. Chamuditha produced a remarkable innings of 192 runs, registering the highest individual score ever recorded in U19 World Cup history and giving Sri Lanka a commanding start to the tournament.
Record-Breaking Innings
Chamuditha’s 192 surpassed the previous record of 191 runs, which was set by Hasith Boyagoda against Kenya in the 2018 U19 World Cup. His innings stood out for its endurance and consistency, as he struck 26 fours and one six before being dismissed by Timothy Moore.
This innings marked a significant milestone in Chamuditha’s youth career. Having played 17 Youth ODIs, this was his maiden hundred in the format, following three previous half-centuries.
