Mahindra XUV 7XO Launch Today: Facelifted XUV700 Gets Major Design & Feature Upgrades

The country’s largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra, is all set to launch the much-anticipated Mahindra XUV 7XO in India today. The model is a facelifted and updated version of the popular XUV700, which was originally introduced in August 2021. Since launch, the XUV700 has recorded sales of over 3 lakh units, strengthening Mahindra’s dominance in the fast-growing SUV market.

Fresh Design With Premium Road Presence

The new XUV 7XO has been teased several times ahead of launch, hinting at noticeable visual and feature enhancements. While the overall silhouette remains similar to the outgoing XUV700, Mahindra has refreshed the SUV with:

  • A new front grille
  • Updated LED headlamps
  • DRLs inspired by the XUV 3XO
  • New-design alloy wheels
  • Redesigned LED taillamps, influenced by the new Mahindra XEV 9S

Bookings for the facelifted SUV opened last month with a token amount of ₹21,000, reflecting strong customer interest even before launch.

Major Interior Overhaul & New Tech Features

The teasers reveal significant cabin upgrades, making the XUV 7XO more feature-loaded and premium than before.

Key interior enhancements include:

  • New dual-tone cabin theme
  • Redesigned dashboard
  • Triple-screen setup (instrument cluster, infotainment & co-driver display)
  • New steering wheel borrowed from the XEV 9S
  • Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos
  • Powered co-driver boss mode seat

In addition, the XUV 7XO is expected to offer:

  • Ventilated seats (1st & 2nd row)
  • Powered driver seat with memory
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Seven airbags
  • Level 2+ ADAS safety technology

These upgrades make the facelifted model one of the most technologically advanced SUVs in its class.

Engine & Performance — No Mechanical Changes Expected

Mahindra is likely to retain the existing petrol and diesel powertrain options from the XUV700, paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. An AWD variant is also expected to continue.

Engine options (reference from current XUV700 lineup):

2.0-litre Turbo-Petrol

  • 197 hp
  • 380 Nm
  • 6-speed MT / 6-speed AT

2.2-litre Diesel

  • Lower tune: 153 hp / 360 Nm (MT)
  • Higher tune: 182 hp
    • 420 Nm (MT)
    • 450 Nm (AT)

These engines are already known for strong performance and highway stability, and are expected to be carried forward unchanged.

Expected Price & Market Positioning

The outgoing Mahindra XUV700 is currently priced between:

₹13.65 lakh – ₹25.14 lakh (ex-showroom)

Given the upgrades, Mahindra is expected to price the XUV 7XO slightly higher, while still remaining competitive in its segment.

Expected price range:
₹14 lakh – ₹26 lakh (ex-showroom)

Rivals in the Segment

The Mahindra XUV 7XO will compete against:

  • Tata Safari
  • Hyundai Alcazar

With its enhanced technology, premium interior and proven engine lineup, the XUV 7XO is expected to further strengthen Mahindra’s position in the premium SUV category.
